Peggy Frank died last July due to USPS delivery vans not having air conditioning... the USPS gave lip service, and forgot. Now in Phoenix, the USPS delivery van with no air conditioning is in the news... for cooking a steak to medium on the dash. USPS again gives lip service, meanwhile several USPS delivery employees have been taken to the hospital for heat stress related issues

According to Arizona State Representative Bolick (R-20), a worker in her district has sent her daily updates of temperature readings inside a mail carrier vehicle that average 128 degrees.

Bolick says a worker even used their dashboard to cook a steak to an internal temperature of 142 degree to show how hot the vehicle gets during the day.

When asked for an interview, there was not a USPS representative available, and the President of the American Postal Workers Union, Mark Dimonstein did not respond to a letter delivered (lol) to his office, but the USPS did send the following statement:

"We want to emphasize the Postal Service works to protect its employees all year through a strong health and safety program. This includes instructions on messaging through the handheld carrier scanners, frequent service talks on recognizing heat illnesses and taking shade or hydration, and street supervision that checks on carriers during the day. Our letter carriers work hard and we appreciate that effort in all conditions."

Except we aren't morons, and we remember Peggy Frank. She's dead because the temp was 117 in the shade when she was delivering mail in truck in Woodland Hills on Friday July 6th 2018. The USPS delivery vehicle she was driving, like so many others, had no air conditioning.

Peggy Frank's death resulted in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) levying a fine on the U.S. Postal Service of $150,000. OSHA did not force the USPS to install airconditioning in all of it's delivery vehicles. So... fuck OSHA for half assing it there too. Fining the bastards won't change a damn thing, upper management at the USPS did not take a personal hit in the wallet, so, why should that bother them?

Quite a few USPS employees over the past few weeks in the Phoenix area have been sent to the emergency room to deal with heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Anyone that has been in an environment where co-workers or shipmates, family or friends have fallen from heat stroke and heat exhaustion KNOW that it's no joke.

We all know Peggy Frank DIED. The USPS knows it too.

So does
Ms. Megan J. Brennan, Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer
Assistant Secretary Loren Sweatt, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA
Rebecca Kingsley, District 2 Coordinator, American Postal Workers Union Auxiliary
Janice Gillespie, Legislative Aide/Editor, American Postal Workers Union Auxiliary
Fredrick Rolando president of the NALC (national Association of letter carriers)
and President of the American Postal Workers Union, Mark Dimonstein

So, spread the word... boycott the USPS, switch to UPS for delivery until you hear that the USPS has upgraded all the southern states delivery vehicles.

  1. WTF! REALLY!? With all the postal rate increases this government institution is still operating in the red. Uncle Sam baled out big private companies because, "They were too big to let fail!" So whay don't they bale out the USPS. Maybe it's because they know being a government service it's going to remain F'd up.
