yesterday, another Cessna crashed at a municipal airport in San Diego. Just one of hundreds of crashes there since the 70s.

This one biffed it right into a storage facility as it tried to make it back to the airport, after finding that it wasn't operating very well on take off.

The airplane was in such obvious problems that Jeff caught the airplane on video:

Based on records from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, which tracks and investigates all plane crashes and minor accidents, 214 accidents tied to Gillespie Field have resulted in 17 fatalities and 22 injuries from January 1978 to December of last year.

Data shows Cessna planes were involved in 34 percent of all Gillespie incidents, some 73 events.
Pipers had 42 incidents and Beech planes with 14.

Frankly, it's ridiculous how often there's a news report about another small plane crashing at or near Gillespie Field, and how there are never reports in the news about the other 3 municipal air posts in town
