Singing in the traditional African American a cappella gospel style that they have been known for since the group’s inception almost 100 years ago, The Fairfield Four continue to perform original, tightly harmonized pieces and traditional favorites, and were featured at the Lincoln Center in August 2015 http://www.lcoutofdoors.org/events/rock-my-soul-featuring-the-fairfield-four-and-the-mccrary-sisters-junior-mambazo

  1. In the early 80's, I would use cassettes of the Fairfield Four to demonstrate car stereo speaker quality. Joe Thompson's bass is better than any synthesized boom mix for showing the accuracy of subwoofer sound reproduction.

    1. That's amazing... 30 years ago you were already in the know, and finally, the Lincoln Center and the Grammy's are catching up and recognizing. Serious cool and astonishing recognition of greatness is what you had right there! Because of what you said, I looked into the Fairfield 4 a bit more and posted a bit more

    2. Want to test your stereo's sound quality? obtain a digital copy of "These Bones" by the Fairfield Four. The voices, with a snare accompaniment, will show the full range accuracy.

  2. Quite often, there will be a question and answer period after one of their concerts. Ask them to demonstrate some scale warm ups or some la la la's. I'm serious. The roof of the building will rise. Absolutely top shelf.

    1. wow... you've been there to experience that? Cool! There is NOTHING as good as a live performance. I'd never have thought to request scale warm ups though... damn good idea!
