A round of applause to Roeland Park, Kansas, police department

the Chief, and officer Zack Stamper learned of a guy that walks 2.5 miles to work, so they went to the lost, found, and abandoned bikes, picked out the best, cleaned it up and gave it to the guy.

last year, officer Mark Engravalle responded to a theft case at Walmart, discovered a mom and 15 year old daughter had been caught stealing girls stuff because the youngest of 5 daughters didn't have shoes, diapers, wipes, etc, and were living in a car. Mark did his job, but had the oldest daughter pick out necessities for her sisters, and paid for the lot himself. http://pvpost.com/2015/07/09/roeland-park-officers-compassion-shines-through-in-response-to-shoplifting-family-at-walmart-40770

  1. Sometimes because those few black sheep's that are better "news" (Bad news i Good news) about PD we forget that at least 90% of Police Officers are good men and woman who take their job seriously and really protect & serve.

    1. I disagree, and challenge you to prove it. I have 70 posts showing police being complete assholes that beat, choke, punch, shoot and kill people. Police are only authorized to subdue, arrest, and deliver suspects to jail. Not to kill, not to punch. You make up numbers, I show evidence. Waco police killed 9 bikers in May 2015, no evidence of the bikers shooting a single bullet. I think you ought to realize that I do not agree with you in any way even half of police are good people. I have 3 years experience as a federal law enforcement officer, and worked with about 2 hundred others. How about you? I see news every day, every week, every month and every year that law enforcement are bullies, assualting people, and not having any repercussions. They may lose law suits, but the tax payers of cities have to pay out, and the cops still keep their paychecks, retirements, and benefits. It's gross. I run a story about good cops when I find such good news, so far, 9 years, 4 stories. If you were even half right, there would be hundred of thousands of good news stories about cops. I see nothing. I believe in facts and evidence, and you bring nothing to me but your made up 90%. You have to do better than that. Police? Uniformed and organized criminals with badges. Fire fighters on the other hand SAVE LIVES.

    2. You did touch the basic rule of every media. BAD news are GOOD news. This is how you find so much bad news and so little good one, because good ones are not worth the "TV time". Bad news do the drama, bad news sell good. Good news are boring.

Now, in US there is more or less 1.220.000 Police officers/workers. And you have "only" 70 post about bad things? If as you said at least half of Police officers you meet are not good people... then number of posts would rise from 70 to 70000 in a day.

You see a story in "OMG Police brutality!" let's say in Facebook, then in TV then it spread like wildfire. Bad news, people love it! In other way "OMG Police officer help me changing the tire on highway and he was very nice to me!".... BOOORRRIIINNNGGGG go away!

There are bad police officers, there are bad situations they create, black sheep's are everywhere. But this is a marginal % of overall people working there. Those people do their job every day, every week, every month. Without TV, without cellphones showing that. And I stile dare to say that 90% of them are NOT black sheep's.

Firefighters, they have my deepest respect. But they also have black sheep's in their ranks. Firefighters who put fire under buildings to "show" how much heroes they are. Those situations had places. Doctors, medics... also sometimes do a bad things.

1,220,000 officers working every day... and you have only 70 bad posts. You never wonder why so little if there are half of them Black sheep's?

    3. I "only" have 70 because I'm primarily an entertainment car focused website. Those 70 were so bad, so important to talk about and tell my readers, that I posted them IN SPITE of the fact that they aren't about fun cars. That's how bad they are. You have a mom... is it ok with you that a cop give her a vaginal exam on the side of the road for a speeding ticket? Is it ok with you if a cop beats the shit out of your ghrandmother on the side of the freeway while she lays with her back on pavement and her punches her in the face? Those are so bad, I had to inform my readers to be safer, more informed, and more cautious with police and to get a dash cam, and cell phone video record every police encounter. Good news is, again, something I disagree with you about. I love good news, and frequently post it, but there isn't much of it, because it doesn't happen often. Paul Harvey made a living from announcing it on his radio show as recently as 10 years ago.

    4. Some of them are bad, nobody can denied it. People mentally unfit to the service, people who abuse the power they have. Racist, alcoholics, idiots... as everywhere and in every place those people exist. You can choose an incident here and there but that don't mean that this is happening everywhere, every time. Those are limited and rare things done by few. You work in place where you and 8 of your coworkers are doing tough job, stressful, but you do this because you believe in that, you want to protect people, fight with crime. But there are this one, person that do one of bad thing you describe and now media say that all 10 of you are sick power mongers.

Action of few can't describe all, but people have the tendency to see things from the worst angle they can. But most of PD officers are just like those two you post it, good people who treat job seriously and even do things outside theirs job to help others. Because they believe that they are here to protect & serve.

If we will look and judge anyone by Black Sheep's actions, nobody will be a White Sheep. No Firefighters, no Paramedics, no Teachers, no one lad.

Good news is when Police Officer have ordinary day, when he don't need to pull out the gun or chase the suspect. Those are ordinary work days. But that's boring, not news at all... no drama.

    5. well, you've missed it. It is happening EVERYWHERE in America, Louisianna, LA, New Mexico, Arizona, Massachusetts, NYC, Detroit, Utah, Chicago, San Diego, this is just off the top of my head without even looking them up. You also aren't aware of the big picture, that with such a thing as, lets go with your conservative 10%, that 90% of the police force aren't POLICING THEIR OWN! They have a job to do and a union to stay in check with, but the "black sheep" are not slowed or stopped by the very brothers in uniform that are trained to prevent assaults by anyone on anyone else, and that is especially true when it is abuse of power, abuse of authority,.assault on an unarmed suspect, killing of a non suspect, assault on a non suspect, shooting in the back of an unarmed suspect, planting evidence, unlawful use of force, force non conforming to policy and procedure, etc etc. I could go on, but you aren't paying attention anyway. The police in uniform have a duty to keep their fellow police, and fellow union members from breaking ANY laws. You seem to have missed that day of morals, ethics, professional procedure and policy. The very "90%" you think do a good job are blind to, and ignoring the conservatively guessed at "10%" giving them all a terrible reputation. All police are guilty of not keeping their fellow police from committing crimes, being corrupt, and assaulting citizens. Innocent until proven guilty, not just a pretty phrase, it's an American citizens RIGHT in the constitution. Go on and ignore the reality, snooze away through the news each day, and ignore the obvious, that is fine, it's your life. But don't bother to debate me on it, you aren't informed enough, experienced enough, nor inclined to learn about it.
