Blwn Brd, posted because you rarely see a 67 Firebird, and I'm wondering what you think of the round tailights

 looks great from this side

but these tail lights, Ummm..., Camaro? Chevelle? Corvette? Mailbu? not Firebird that's for sure. But was it a good idea, or bad idea?

  1. Those are the original secon gen. Camaro lights. I actually thought about putting those in my second gen. Firebird!

Yep, 71-73 Camaro lights. Oh, and bad idea...

  5. There's something I am confused about when I noticed this. I am building a model of a 1969 Firebird that has nice stripes and SCCA decals, but they only work for the version that has a blower coming out of the hood. I have never before heard of this. Do they ever use these types of blowers in older cars for SCCA? Last thing I wanna do is build this the wrong way. Thanks.

    1. I haven't any idea, you should ask experts on firebirds with Firedbird magazines, car clubs, etc

    2. As far as I can recall... I've never seen a SCCA-race prepped Firebird or Camaro with a blower coming through the hood. I owned a later model Firebird 400 Formula and while Firebirds were Famosa's for the Trans-Am, they weren't eligible to compete because they didn't offer a legal 302 cubic inch engine, only bigger displacement engines. The stripes you mentioned might be shaped to go around the "shaker" hood scoop on the Trans Am model.

    4. Ditto, it's probably against SCCA rules to have a blower

  8. Pontiacs and firebirds seem destined for horizontal tail lights, so I'm not thrilled with this mod. OTH, the Camaro was often billed as a poor man's Corvette and I could see someone doing a similar round tail light mod on a 1st Gen Camaro.
