The Group C Racing and the Endurance Racing Legends, two grids of the Series by Peter Auto. Then will be added the Porsche Classic Race Le Mans grid, bringing together the GTs of the German manufacturer, produced between 1965 and 1981.
Group C were also the only cars capable of hitting the 400 km/h mark on the Hunaudières straight, a feat made impossible after the introduction of the two chicanes in 1990. The disappearance of the Group C at the beginning of the 90s marked the end of a legendary era, but their legacy continues to thrill endurance enthusiasts.
GROUP C RACING
Prototypes from 1982 to 1993
This regulation gave birth to legendary cars, among the most powerful and innovative ever designed, shaped
by the most brilliant minds in motorsport.
The main playground of Group C was of course the Circuit de la Sarthe, where these prototypes wrote some of the most beautiful pages of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship. Initially dominated by the Porsche 956, despite the resistance of the Lancia LC2, the competition gradually intensified with the arrival of Jaguar, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan and Mazda. Alongside these great manufacturers, “artisans” such as Cougar, Dome, Rondeau, Spice or WM managed to distinguish themselves.
