Cool things with wheels since 2006
Well that's stupid fast and just plain stupid but it is cool how they made it look like a 1957 Chevy.
Well that’s quite a different looking coaster than a Chevrolet style for sure.
I learned that the Chevy roller coaster photo was not accurate, and was the lazy choice by Newsweek, who opted to use a stock photo instead of get permission to use a correct photo. So, I went with the right photo, and switched the source link to a website that does NOT let me down like that
Now THAT is fast! Almost as fast as a NHRA Funny Car
Newsweek didn't even use a picture of the roller coaster in Japan. The caption says that it is the "Stealth" roller coaster at Thorpe Park in Chertsey, England. It only took me a few seconds to find the actual coaster on line. Here are pictures of the Do-Dodonpa roller coaster -https://www.autoevolution.com/news/super-death-speed-roller-coaster-is-shut-down-for-snapping-backs-and-bones-in-japan-167920.html#I noticed something similar in the article recently about the Indian kid driving his car into the river because it wasn't what he wanted. The caption on the picture said something like "stock picture of a car in a river".
Thanks Marc! Changing the photo now of the roller coaster. Damn, I had not even considered that Newsweek would be too lazy to use real photos!
Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio has a roller coaster called the Top Thrill Dragster, that "only" goes from 0 to 120 mph in 3.8 seconds. It goes 420 feet up, but it doesn't have a loop like the one in Japan. The Top Thrill Dragster is closed for the rest of the season because a metal bracket came off the back of the coaster and struck someone in the head who was waiting in line.
