it's sorta cool, and sorta sad, to see a guy's first and last days with his car. But - he's the only guy who can say he knew it's 1st and 2nd owners, and met it's 4th and 5th as well. We are only caretakers for a while.

Ken was 14 when the original owner sold it, but to someone else. Not many 14 year olds can step into the adult world with enough money to buy a car, but he told the buyer that he hoped to buy the car from him someday.
That day came, and Ken did, and he garaged the car for the next 41 years.

for the past 9 years, Darrell has been staying in touch with Ken, hoping that when the day came, that Ken would sell it to him.
Darrell told him that when they came to pick up the car, the 5th and 6th owners would come along, as Darrell's son in law and grandson would be keeping the car in the family.
That's Nathan, behind the wheel.

The article isn't clear enough to convince me that the car never left the garage in 41 years, but it seems to be possible. It does say that this car was kept in a garage since new. That's about 85 years of not having rain and snow and sun damage it's paint, and preventing rust!
In 1956 Ken wasn't able to buy it from the original owner, but in 1970, after getting out of the military, he had a $1000 and the 2nd owner was selling it, and Banjo Matthews had offered $700 for it, but, that wasn't going to cut it, and Ken finally had the car he'd wanted for nearly 20 years.
