PSA, as this probably is the first time you've heard of a car trapping it's owner inside... because he didn't know that the doors had a manual override, and didn't try to climb out the trunk, by dropping the back seats, and pulling that manual release handle
When I read the title, I thought this was going to be about a Bricklin. I don't believe they had a manual door release though.
ReplyDeleteThis is WHY I hate new cars and it's ALL fly by wire crap! I may be old fashioned, but at least I can tell the car what to do, and not the other way around!
ReplyDeleteI have a hammer with a seat belt cutter in my car, which is supposed to be able to break the window if you can't get out of the car. I've heard a spring-loaded center punch can be used to shatter the window, too.
ReplyDeleteThe Cadillace XLR is a hard-top convertible, so I don't know if you could get to the trunk from the inside.
I've got one of those too, the hammer and belt slicer. Probably good for settling an argument over parking too!
DeleteOh hell, that's a convertable? I hadn't noticed. Then, no, there's probably no crawling out the trunk from the inside of the car
