A quick look at the 2015 Grand National Roadster Show, 2015... get there early, it's about 5 or 6 hours to cover completely. (gates open at 10am)

the biggest surprise and coolest vehicle was Ron Berry's Surf Seeker

and the winner of the America's Most Beautiful Roadster was this '33

this is the dual grilled Lincoln Zephyr from the Lee Roy Hartung collection, you probably recognize it from the auction news http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/11/private-car-collection-of-lee-roy.html

the Suede Palace just as they opened the doors, 1st time I've ever been in there without a crowd around every car.

a recreation of the Grasshopper

a couple of cars in the contention for the AMBR award

and great news, James Hetfield has Rick Dore working on another masterpiece above... based on the design of the Figoni and Falashi 1938 Delahaye 165 cabriolet

and I think that the above is the only dual rear window I've ever seen

plus recreations of Norm Grabowski's Lightning Bug, and below, the original Moonshiner of Mickey Himsl

and I was also happy to see this for the first time, Tommy Ivo's trailer! I wish more of the trailers and transporters were brought to car shows.... they get as much attention (as Don Prudhomme proved) as the show cars

  1. Automobiles presented in concrete boxes look completely out of place. Time for the GNRS to move outdoors. It works for Pebble Beach and to quote an old song "It never rains in California.........."

    1. The venue change to Pebble beach would be a mistake, San Francisco started the Oakland Roadster Show, and it moved to Pomona for a reason... going back would be a mistake. As for the cars being inside, that is possibly so the audience is more comfortable, no rain (2013 was a storm all weekend) or heat to make the paying audience relaxed and willing to spend more buying from the many vendors. I've noticed the more hot and sweaty the viewers the faster they leave. At least 2 or 3 halls are half full of vendors selling clothing and stuff. That goes pretty well when people are cool and dry, which is why the GRNS is every January in LA. Ditto the Arizona Concours happening in the beginning of January in Phoenix.

  2. Jesse, absolutely fantastic pictures! Simply beautiful customs and hot rods. Will you be featuring more on the Rivino with the custom made Pontiac modular wheels? That thing is just killer! First time I've seen this beauty. More, PLEASE!

    1. Yes, this was just a quick over view so people could see why its worth the price of admission and LA traffic to go down and see the whole show. Full gallery in a couple minutes

  3. Jesse, great pics, thanks from all of us who cannot get to the show! As far as dual rear windows go, how about '63 Vette coupes and old VWs?

    1. those are split versions of full rear windows, and just an option on the Vette. I don't think of the Vette rear window as dual, since for the last 52 years it's been called the "Split rear window Vette" and I see this yellow thing as dual, not split. The VW bug, and others, well, that is a good point.
