I was all fired up to post that the 1969 and 2020 calendars were interchangeable, after seeing a Jan 1969 month started on Wed, just like Jan, but the leap year problem screwed that up

but Feb 2020 has 29 days. So, the rest of the year would be wrong.

Well, I tried. Yes, I know that it means some other year with cool old vintage calendar imagery IS the same, but, lets face it, 1969 gas station stuff was pretty cool, and makes for a better story to post than some other arbitrary year. So... for what it's worth, here's January from an old gas station calendar

however, the 1964 Calendar is spot on, the same as 2020

  1. 1969 was an awesome year. And I love old service station items they use to offer for free, like this calendar. Cars were very cool too. Besides, 69 is everyone's favorite number. ;)

    1. Me too, it's not often I came across the 1960s service station stuff, but I sure have posted a lot, and enjoy it so much!
My old Dodge, is of course, a 1969.

    3. Happy new year to you too!
What do you think of my notion about filling the car with a few period correct things, like only coins older than the car, a couple old matchbooks, a couple old gas station maps of your area, etc? https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2019/01/some-of-you-readers-have-been-very.html

    4. That is a great idea. Damn brother, that's just so obscure and subtle that it's almost ghost like. I like that idea. Do it. Hey, Even though you don't use them where you are, see if you can find an old ice scraper with a filling stations name and address on it.

    5. oh wow... man, that is good! I actually have an ice scraper, which I didn't until after I needed one, and scratched up my damn windshield, 2 years ago. Turns out, here in the winter, 2 years ago, I had to move kinda fast and dirt cheap, without any real choice in the matter, and damned if it wasn't to higher altitude, much farther from the nice warm Pacific... and several days it was below 32... and for some kharma reason my damn windshield was caked in ice.
But oh do I really want a 60s ice scraper from back home. Off to Ebay I go! Hell, By accident I found some little thing from my home town Standard station on Ebay a couple months ago. I wasn't buying, just looking for things to post.

    7. A collapsible cup. I REMEMBER THEM. That is the cool stuff we just don't see anymore. But yeah, ebay is crazy on prices anymore.

  2. I think it's every 28 years the calendar repeats. So hang onto the 1969 version, you should be able to use it in 2025.
