A group of five Airmen, led by Master Sgt. Jenkins, 22nd Maintenance Squadron flight chief, have been volunteering their time for a special project: restoring the B-29 "Doc"

The team has dedicated countless hours to repairing and manufacturing cables that previously deemed Doc unflyable.

  1. Doc was undergoing rebuilding at Wichita some years ago. I would see it while enroute to the VA at times. When I lived in Fort Worth I saw Fi Fi a number of times. I just saw where they would both be together at a air show o two this year. Still very impressive airplane.

    1. Fi-Fi (I hate that the owner named it for his wife with such an infantile name) was here in 2013, https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-last-b29-superfortress-that-still.html and I got up close and inside to get a look... very cool!
