a wood floor, instead of a road, from the side of the street to the opposite side

  1. BAton Rouge Louisiana has a Plank Road that was built around 1709.. It was built to reliably connect the city cotton markets with the rail line north of the city.. The corridor is still named "Plank Road", but it is a paved street/boulevard now..

  2. The only thing I've seen close to this are the corduroy roads that were built by Sherman's Army to expedite their movement. This is huge and well finished.
