interesting designs of gates, especially the fan folding gate, and the non-electrical dont-get-out-of-the-truck-to-open-it gate (use 2x speed, this is slow as hell)
I cant find a video of it anywhere, but the "Bump Gate" at FDRs Little White House in Warm Springs Georgia is pretty cool, and was constructed in the 20s, and still works to this day.
its a spinner, that extends in both directions from the center pivot, that has a detent in the bearing to keep it lightly held at the closed position, you pull up and nudge it past the detent, it will swing open and keep swinging half way around and stop in the closed position
These are simple, and I wonder why the hell more people don't make use of them... instead, they stop their car, get out, move the gate, roll through, stop the car, and close the gate. Too damn much work for me.
