    2. by the way, it's been a while since I've seen you comment, how've you been?

    3. I didn't even know you were a fan of Terry. I've had some health issues (the word 'tumour' rears it's ugly head) which has left me huddled in a corner feeling sorry for myself, so I've not felt like communicating with the outside world much. I've still got a couple of months to go but it looks like I've got about a 75% survival chance, so could be worse. Hope you're doing OK.

    4. I just watched the movie about the Hogfather, and it was great! I haven't read his books, but know about them peripherally, and when I learned recently about GNU Terry Pratchett, was smitten with the idea of carrying on the tradition.
      Oh hell. Tumour.
If you want some commiseration, or entertainment, just let me know.
I will be seeing the dr today to verify that I'm now diabetic, as that's the symptoms that recently made themselves known, so yippee. Health problems.
And probably no more tasty sugary foods.
      Other than that, doing fine.

    5. Getting plenty of commiseration thanks, but I could always use some entertainment. How do you feel about videoing yourself dancing naked in a local bar?
Sorry to hear about the diabetes, but assuming it's type 2 if it's only recently manifested itself, hopefully it won't intrude into your life too much. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago and the only physical symptoms I have are a slight tingling in hands and feet. The blood sugar level is well controlled with metformin, taken orally. Of course there's no guarantee yours won't be more aggressive, but a good chance you'll be OK day to day. I can even have some sugary foods, though it's true that my sweet tooth has largely disappeared over the last few years (not diabetes related I don't think, just age changes). Glad you're doing fine otherwise.

    6. Well, for entertainment I had something else in mind - but if it's a video of me dancing naked in a local bar, you've never dared a submariner/yooper to do something crazy, have you! Lol! HA!
Yup, pretty sure it's the type 2, and for the past 2 weeks my feet were feeling weird, a bit numb tingly, and I had an appointment with the hospital dr today, but they just called me up to cancel, as the medical people couldn't make it. So, now I'm scheduled for Friday afternoon.
I'm pretty sure I've got this diagnosed, but I'm going to get it professionally figured out, as it could be a circulatory issue, complicated with high blood pressure, clogged arteries, etc. I'm only 175 pounds, but have had 2 straight years of not doing anything, not at work or at home - as you know I prefer to sit on the computer and research, blog, and enjoy car stuff online.
No doubt it's time (age 50) to start living healthy if I want to extend my life a couple decades... and I certainly do, there's a lot to read, see, visit, and enjoy left. I've been a part of the rat race too long.
For a bit of entertainment, I hope you either look at my best of photography https://contentandcomposition.tumblr.com/
and most beautiful womens photos I've ever found https://isonlyskindeep.tumblr.com/
But for sheer variety of things, my facebook (and please ignore the occasional political jab at liberals) as the rest is a cornucopia of miscellanea

    7. OK, maybe I'll pass on the naked dancing. Nothing personal, but I suspect you're not my type anyway.
For entertainment I'm mainly surfing the net, reading or dreaming about the next bike (let's see, if I had the money to build the ultimate Triumph Bonneville*, what would I do?). I'll have a look at your facebook, but you've probably gathered by now that our political leanings don't exactly run parallel; you're corresponding with an ageing hippy, 17 in '67. Love and peace, Man.
If you've kept your weight to 175lbs you've certainly got a good start on improving your lifestyle, and I imagine you must have been fit in the Navy, so that would help. I wish you well with your efforts. I've lost 55lbs due to the illness (cancer has its upside!) and still weigh 184lb; weight has always been a big issue for me.
A bummer that your appointment was postponed, but I guess that's the nature of medicine, people's needs sometimes can't wait. Please let me know how you get on when you finally meet the doctor.
      Best wishes,
      Tony
*Meriden Bonneville. The Hinckley ones don't appeal, though I respect the company.
