Car safety laws in the US make it more expensive to have three children

women in states with mandated car seats are 0.7% less likely to have a third child.

The safety measures may have saved 57 car crash fatalities each year, but caused 145,000 fewer births since 1980.

  1. So that'll be 2,280 fewer fatalities over the same period of time. Reckon any other factors involved, like there being more women on the workforce or better educated (= fewer kids) in states with more stringent safety rules?

In any case, the world is way overpopulated, and taking the best care of fewer kids is the way to go.
