Douglas Aircraft was in Long Beach, and was the company to make the 1st planes to fly around the world, and the first air conditioned manufacturing plant
1920 Carrier bought its first plant... Then in 1937 moved all of its operations, which was spread over several locations in several states, to the then recently closed Franklin Auto plant in greater downtown Syracuse NY...
I could not find anything about Douglas Aircraft, or Donald Douglas Sr. being in the AC field, other than AC for air planes...
What? Read what I wrote again.... Douglas had the 1st manufacturing warehouse type location, that was cold, because they had no windows. So what I wrote was they had the first air conditioned manufacturing plant... not the first air conditioning manufacturing plant
Ha ha ha, I read that over and over... Even used it to look up "First air conditioned plant" and never gave it a second thought... Ha ha ha I also didnt notice it in the story until now... I thought I read that multiple times as well... Oh boy!
