That is the first time I've seen the front of a steam locomotive open while on the rails... looks like WW2 France by the number of berets. Notice the tanks on the flat bed cars? Panzers?
Tigers for sure, loco looks sabotaged as there's no evidence of an air strike and the tanks look relatively undamaged.
There's an Mg42 leaned against the wall with a twinned drum magazine and a rash of stick grenades, could be we're looking at a sympathetic crew of workers as two of them are carrying what appear to be Kar98k rifles.
In the background an officer is visible wearing those jodhpur-like pants the Germans wore.

ReplyDeleteIf you look closer, you will see, how badly damaged the loco is, so I guess the opened front is because of the damage too. Maybe an explosion?

I'm thinkin' that damage is the result of sabotage of some kind if this is in occupied France.
