the Beau James, 1975 GMC truck. What idiot thought that was a good name to increase sales? Could have been the ad guy competing against the "Gentleman Jim"

  1. I bought a Beau James, brand new, from a dealership in Lincoln, Nebraska. I preferred that over the Gentleman Jim, which they were also selling. I didn't care for the old gold color of the GJ. I loved that truck and wish I still had it.

    1. Do you have any photos of it? Any great story of what you did with it?

  2. My father bought his Beau James new, and towed travel trailers with us about the west. He then passed it on to me.
To this date(2017), it has never hauled anything in its bed except a carpet kit (makes couches into a sleeping bed) covered by a canopy.
Later, we brought our own son (middle name James) home from the hospital in her cab (first vehicle in his life). As she was purchased with a full towing package, so we also used that several times. The 454 has no problem towing 24ft trailers without breaking a sweat. But the canopy/bed was used most often at International Kite shows(WSIKF), and a place the take a break, eat and nap. Ancient by today's standards , but she rides smoothly and covers miles easily, with or without a trailer.
