Hey! that's my old truck. (I can send you some more pics), I stuffed it in the back of a box truck to bring it back from AZ. Got her running after sitting for years. traded a 1964 vw beetle for it, traded the truck for a 1963 ranchero I did the same (revive and drive), trading that for a 1973 e300 econoline Supervan. Fun way to enjoy wrenching and keeping old rides on the road!
no way! This has been posted for less than 10 hours, and you've found it? That's amazing! Dang, you trade a LOT! Did every trade make you feel like you'd gotten the best of the deal? Or do you simply need a project to keep busy with? By the way, I spotted this in the Vons on 30th in San Diego yesterday. Not many rust free trucks on the road anymore, and fewer are making runs to the grocery store
I frequent the site. and i've had a bunch of those classic fords. (they do tend to rust here even, in San Diego). thats why I got that green one back from AZ.
I lucked into the beetle, I was at the local watering hole, chatting to the bartender about my 64 class 11 look alike, fella sitting next to me was moving and couldn't take his 64 with him. long story short I have another vw. didn't really need two, but could use a roof for my otherwise perfect patina 1969 ford 250 bumpside 2wd. Found the green truck, on CL, (window shopping). It was the guys dads truck, that they used when they moved to different places in the west, then she sat. He builds custom stepvans and wanted to see her go to a good home. when I got her back, and started digging thur all the spare parts, CB radios, maps, and seeing how 'nice' she was I couldn't bear to cut her up or part her out. Sold her to a young local Marine. he spent a week getting her dialed in to meet tech for getting on base. found him a 300 4.9 to replace the worn out 360, but he recently made it out of a pretty gnarly auto accident in his 90's Hondas. He looking for something with airbags now. I saw he had her posted on Offerup and saw she sold, I guess to the guy you seen in the pic. Glad i'll get to see her around the neighborhood still. Her name was Newt, (monty python nod, as she "got better") well better than she was baking back in AZ. I've moved on from the 250 as well, she getting a full restore by the new owners. the ranchero needed a new motor, found a 200 large intake in Oceanside, brought that motor home on the passenger side floor board of the beetle. (clown cars for real!). The ranchero, is going to car guy in Newberry springs, she'll retire pulling his boat out of the water. Just waiting for his motor to get finished being rebuild down here in San Diego then I can head up help him install that in his project truck. then work on going thru the van to get it road worthy, (brake lines, and gas tank is all she needs, well fingers crossed anyways.) I had a 67 Supervan, the one that got away, I sold her to get 92 dodge to tow some rare hanomag f25 (yakima,WA) / mercedes l206d(Sacramento) projects of mine. Never had a 2nd gen econoline. but its pretty much the same as that vintage f250, and being a e300, I can work her harder that the ranchero. I dunno, probable be on to something else soon too. All that was in the last 5 years, splitting with the misses and loosing the yard space so projects gotta go. life is short and variety, like this site, is the spice of it. Cheers Jesse
