interesting roadtrip, from Ohio to California, with the goals of seeing some national parks, but most interestingly, to gather pieces of native wood, to make a map with

so, this got my interest because wood was a goal, and that is a rare thing for most people to be interested in. Not many people are interested in woodworking, or carpentry. Those that are, are quite interesting people.

Also, not many people do road trips, with stops and sightseeing. Far more people who must travel are simply A to B and get it done as quick as possible. Others are simply on the road to be traveling slowly and see and journal a lot... but to be on the road, and decide that your souvenir remembrance thing will be a 'maker' project? Very rare. I dig the maker thing, I suppose a lot of you do to, as many mechanical and tool people, and car restorers, etc etc are very maker.
