JFK in a Studebaker? Dang... that's a lot less prestigious than that drop top Lincoln. In fact, I looked around, and could find no other examples of JFK in anything less prestigious than a Ford

Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1960... pretty sure

  1. Picky, picky me, I know. But this is history and should be true. Thus my respectful correction: It's a late 50s Studie Lark. I had a friend in high school that had a black four sedan, a certified grandpa car. Tucked away under the hood though was a Chrysler hemi mated to a three speed LaSalle tranny. The scornful looks he got were short lived during the Saturday night cruising ritual on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee. Frank in his Studie was soon regarded as no one to trifle with. Great photograph!

    2. ...or a 1,2,3 finish in 1966, a 1st place in 1968 and 1969. Let's see...my calculator tells me that's 4 consecutive years including the number 1 Foyt/Gurney win. Not too bad considering the 68 and 69 cars were several years old.
