the Huayra came to Goodwood, from Argentina. I've never seen this car before, it was built in 1969, designed by Heriberto Pronello for the official Ford Sports-Prototype team.
In 2005, it was found in Córdoba, and Pronello himself supervised and collaborated with Zeziola in the restoration of the Huayra.

A meteorologist in the USA is naming the country’s heatwaves after the oil and gas companies that have worsened the climate crisis.
The heatwave that has baked much of the US south-west in recent weeks, helping bring a record-breaking string of days over (43C) 110F to Phoenix, has been named Heatwave Chevron by Guy Walton, a veteran former Weather Channel meteorologist.
The rebadging of heatwaves as being directly the fault of companies like Chevron is “a naming and shaming thing”, according to Walton, who wants weather forecasters and the media to be more explicit between the links between extreme heat and the burning of fossil fuels that has caused the climate crisis.

Lucian finally posted his Goodwood photos
I haven't seen the above or below anywhere else
and the coolest headlight design I've seen in a long time, not that they'd be right on any other car, but they NAILED it on this car!
Trucks aren’t allowed on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Just when you thought NYPD wasn't completely ignorant, this happens:
A former Staten Island NYPD sergeant who pleaded guilty last year to using a fake license plate to avoid toll fares pleaded guilty to a second, unrelated crime: beating a man detained inside a holding cell last year, according to court records.
Adrian Dejesus, 38, pleaded guilty to official misconduct, second-degree falsifying business records and third-degree attempted assault in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday. He's only been mandated to take anger management classes and resign
Adrian Dejesus, 38, pleaded guilty to official misconduct, second-degree falsifying business records and third-degree attempted assault in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday. He's only been mandated to take anger management classes and resign
Dejesus, who joined the department in 2007, was previously charged in Richmond County with possession of a forged instrument and falsifying business records for allegedly making a false report to the state Department of Motor Vehicles that his license plate had been stolen and then putting a fake paper plate on his car.
Andrew Crawford, a spokesperson for the Richmond County DA's office, said Dejesus pleaded guilty to a Class E felony that would later be bumped down to a Class A misdemeanor in that case if he completed 100 hours of community service and left the department. Crawford said he has completed both requirements.

Gothamist previously reported that Dejesus was suspended 25 days without pay for violating NYPD policy when he used sick days to go on vacation in Puerto Rico and then skipped a department interview related to the case. He was also disciplined several times for missing court appearances, according to a 2020 disclosure letter from the Richmond County DA’s office posted on the Legal Aid Society’s Law Enforcement Lookup database. In 2012, Dejesus pleaded guilty to filling out an inaccurate property clerk invoice, according to the letter.

how accessible a street vendor permit is, by how much it costs the person running the business, indicates how little a city wants them doing business.... it varies drastically by city
It's $541 in Los Angeles
It was reduced to $291 during covid. https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/city-of-la-looks-to-reduce-street-vendor-permit-fees/
Most street vendors make about 11k a year, and are recent immigrants, and are pushed out of prime locations by big businesses that give kickbacks (or bribes) to the permit people at City Hall for favorable terms, like, best locations, revoking single cart owner operators, etc
Chicago charges 58 dollars, and San Diego only 38 dollars, according to https://www.theeastsiderla.com/news/government_and_politics/l-a-to-look-at-reducing-street-vendor-fees/article_0903285c-1637-11ee-82c0-0fa2771566d9.html
This was brought before LA City Council, who voted 12-0 to look into lowering their permit fee for street vendors
If you plan ahead, and build with every need in mind, you can use your race car hauler in several other ways... like, a spare engine for the race car, AND a service lift for working under the car at the track
As I recall, I posted a couple of times about this remarkable Mercedes race car hauler, and they put a race car engine spare in it, so that they'd have one when needed... already to be used in the race car, but not taking up space on the hauler, dead weight if not used. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=renntransporter

the Coastal Commission abused its discretion by unilaterally ordering the elimination of off-highway vehicle (OHV) use at the Oceano Dunes SVRA.
The California Superior Court of San Luis Obispo County has ruled that the California Coastal Commission does not have the authority to prohibit motorized recreational and overnight camping access at Oceano Dunes State Vehicle Recreation Area (SVRA).
Oceano Dunes SVRA is a premier destination for motorized recreation enthusiasts and tourists alike as the only off-road park in the state offering direct access to the Pacific Ocean. For decades, recreationists and off-roaders have enjoyed riding all types of motorized vehicles, from trucks and SUVs to dune buggies and quads, on the California beach, which was threatened by the Commission's March 2021 amendments to Coastal Development Permit 4-82-300 that demanded the California Department of Parks and Recreation phase out OHV access to Oceano Dunes SVRA by 2024.
Project K is Kalki, 2898, a sci fi epic movie filmed and produced in India, and the only incredible thing in Hall H this year.
this preview is all there is, and will be for a while, as they haven't finished filming yet.
It IS the most astonishing move for India cinema, because it's the first sci fi, from a country that has only made love, action, musical, and ancient mythology movies so far
If you are similar to me, you're picking up on a bit of Blade Runner 2049, some 5th Element, etc, but with a stronger male lead actor
Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages, the film stars an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Pasupathy.
In Hindu mythology, Kalki is the 10th and final incarnation of the god Vishnu who appears in order to end the Kali Yuga, the darkest period in mankind’s history. “When the world is taken over by darkness, a new force will arise,” the “Kalki 2898 AD” teaser proclaims, setting the stage for Prabhas.

so, nothing from a half dozen artists today, but, they all seemed interested in the free publicity, so, hopefully next week after Comic Con

it took 9 years of lawsuits, meetings, and struggling with not losing hope. It took 2 million dollars in attorneys fees. 21 drivers (at least) stood up against police extortion and racism, and finally got a 4 million dollar federal judgement against the Suffolk County Police department
Twenty-one Latino drivers sued the county alleging that police ignored evidence of Sgt. Greene’s “stop-and-rob” scheme. He had pled guilty to this in court, by the way.
The agreement adds additional requirements on top of a 2013 agreement that demanded police reforms and federal oversight of the Long Island police department
Police struggled to comply with even the most basic terms of the agreement, according to correspondence between Suffolk and the Department of Justice. For example, the DOJ required that the county collect and analyze traffic stop data. However, the county admitted before U.S. Magistrate Louis Bloom that the data it collected was unreliable and was never analyzed.

For example, the DOJ required that the county collect and analyze traffic stop data. However, the county admitted before U.S. Magistrate Louis Bloom that the data it collected was unreliable and was never analyzed.
In a 23-page decision, Judge William Kuntz wrote that Suffolk failed to “make any serious attempt to change their practices.” He added that had Suffolk collected the data correctly, it would have shown that “officers targeted Latinos and subjected them to disparate treatment.”
The ruling also finds that former Police Commissioner Ed Webber and now-deputy chief of internal affairs Milagros Soto may have been aware of the biased policing.
Following a state-mandated police reform in 2021, the county did publish an online dashboard of traffic stop data. However, it did not include license plate information, the reason people were searched, and actions officers took.

Congratulations to Larry Wood for his induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit on July 20.
One day in 1956, the football coach at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., confiscated a “Hot Rod” magazine from a player who wasn’t paying attention.
He went home and threw it on the kitchen counter. His 14-year-old son picked it up. The boy had never before seen the publication. He would not be the same again.
Larry Wood, now of Redondo Beach, grew up to design Hot Wheels for Mattel for 50 years, and later this month, will be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Mich.

a road grader made in Indiana is a strange thing to have on display in Texas
The Adams Leaning Wheel Grader No. 10 was manufactured by J. D. Adams Manufacturing Company of Indianapolis, Indiana.
unique scoreboard mission symbols. Poopsie completed 66 missions
It's still on display, after returning to the states after the war, and serving as a corporate plane for National Metals, and Filmways Inc, and taking part in the 1968 movie Catch 22
Tesla directors in the news
Tesla Inc’s directors will return $735m to the company to settle claims they grossly overpaid themselves in one of the largest shareholder settlements of its kind, according to a filing yesterday in a Delaware court. The settlement resolves a 2020 lawsuit by a retirement fund which holds Tesla stock and challenged stock options that were granted to Tesla directors starting in June 2017. The settlement does not affect the $56bn compensation package of Elon Musk, which is being challenged by shareholders in a separate lawsuit that went to trial last year. A ruling is expected soon in the Musk case. The directors, including the Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, agreed to return the equivalent value of 3.1m Tesla stock options, according to a court filing.
What? Eich people controlling a corporation so they can get richer? That's crazy!

Sonya heard about the Road Runner her dad had when he was a young guy, before family responsibilities.... and this spring, decided to get him another one, so 50 years after he gave his up, he'd be driving one again
above was what her dad had back in the day, so, Sonya bought this
and made it into the look alike of what her dad used to have
and that was 4 months of well planned effort, then the found his old front license plate, that he kept for 5 decades to remener his cool old car by, and put it on
and that's your cool story of the week!
