I just learned of a book about the ground crews, it's mostly photos about life on base of a typical USAAF station in support of B 17s and B 24s

Don't bother getting this book unless you're bored. You can see what life was like around an English aircraft base online with spending a penny. 

By the title, I was under the impression that this book was about mechanics, but less than 20 pages were about them, and the other 100 or so were about the base, the pubs near the base, etc. 

Page 39 and 41 are identical, sol, obviously the author and editor were blind. Page 24 and 26 used the same photo with a different caption. 

So, not much to be impressed with
