did you realize that an 88 Mustang now qualifies as an "Antique" ? Sure, I know, 25 years old etc etc... but I didn't realize cars I'd liked after high school would ever be considered "antiques" in my lifetime.
I spotted this sweet Mustang when cutting through the mall parking lot... and there aren't many left in this good of condition.
I might be wrong, but I think it's an 88 or 89 LX 5.0
I did... they sure haven't. The Challenger, Charger, and 300 haven't changed much in 10 years. Same with the Dodge truck. There are car models that change more often, but it seems a lot of car makers are sticking with a design for 8 to 12 years with not much change on the exterior design. The Veloster was the same from the first one in 2011 to the 2018 model, and the 2019 isn't much different
Of course, this is also why I don't post anything about new cars, they are boring and haven't made any impression in forever. The Prowler was the last amazing looking design, and that was about 20 years ago
Hold up, not so fast... notice the Marine Corps ring.... that's a clue that this belongs to active duty military and they've got no need to get a new license plate every time they get transferred to a new base. That's been the way it is since WW2ish. Long time. They got better things to do than stand in line at the damn DMV for new plates, and they don't make enough money to waste it on registration fees. They have that exemption for a good reason, and it's cool. That' one reason so many out of state plates are in So Cal, all the military bases. It's a easy thing to verify, look for the DOD sticker on the windshield or front bumper.
Also, did you realize that cars haven't changed much since the end of the 90s (20 years ago) compared to how much they changed between 70s and 90s?

DeleteAnother car in California with an out-of-state historical plate. You're right that it looks like an 88 or 89 LX.

DeleteI noticed that, but it says "veteran" at the top of the frame. Like you say, I guessed the owner was probably stationed in the area.
