the first New Zealand district to have a school bus service is beginning a transformation of a 1921 Model T to a school bus

The project began with former Piopio College principal Brian Tegg, who pitched the idea of converting a 1921 Model T Ford.

Project funds have hit almost $46,000 thanks to two $10,000 grants: one from Waitomo District Council and the other from Trust Waikato.

The Model T's deck will be replaced with a passenger compartment and passers-by will be able to watch through the workshop window at Laver Marine in Moa Street.
