and when they changed it to a more modern grille, they just put the new wider grill in front of this one, if you look through the grill on the newer ones, you can see the 4 round holes for the headlights and the vent things, and the outline in the metal for the "rhino" grill in this truck.
Back in the early 70's I had a '64 J100, the base model of this truck. Unfortunately it had the execrable OHC-6 engine, which burned oil like crazy, got rebuilt and ran beautifully for a couple of thousand miles then burned oil like crazy again. But except for that engine and a terribly wide turning circle , it was a fine design, good in snow, rugged, slow to rust, and still looks good after all these years.
userbronco is correct, I removed my plastic grill & a few clips from my Honcho & did the Rhino conversion with ease......Sold it about 8 years ago, I was the second owner.
