The M39 cannon is a 20 mm caliber single-barreled revolver cannon developed for the United States Air Force in the late 1940s. It was used on a number of fighter aircraft from the early 1950s through the 1980s.

it fired about 1500 rounds a minute, which would slow the air speed of that ship

on the 28th of August, 1967, it was one of two Hueys in a terrible gunfight, and George took two AK rounds to the face, the second round dead center through the comms mic, taking out 9 teeth

Big Daddy had close to 750 holes in it but the two gunships involved got everyone home. 53 years later, four of the crew are still alive.
