The brazen thieves crawled under the Excursion at 12:30 in the afternoon in broad daylight and began trying to remove the coveted part, but the SUV’s alarm went off, which momentarily paused their actions. However, after just a minute or so, the family realized what was happening and came out wielding paintball guns. The owners managed to land a few shots on both before they sped away in a red car that was parked nearby.
I understand that a thief can get a lot of money for a cat, enough cash that it is worth the risk. So, who the hell (wanted to use more colorful language) is buying all of these hacked off converters? The process of extracting the valuable metals has to take some real-estate, power and a crap ton chemicals to operate. No one thinks to ask "Summerteeth Keith" how he comes up with a marble sized lump of palladium every few weeks?
ReplyDeleteIf I take a little scrap copper to the recycler, I have to provide ID and fill out a form stating I didn't steal it (seems pointless likely adds some extra charge if arrested). I also know that if the recycler gets busted buying stolen copper, it's his ass.
Those men are lucky the owner only shot at them with paintballs, instead of a real gun.
