you might not even remember the Fageol company at all, but they made tractors and busses, but I didn't know they made outboard motors with Pepco superchargers!

  1. In 1937, William Fageol was having difficulty keeping his company solvent. He sold the company to a man named Peter (I forget his last name). Fageol trucks were known by the employees as "Bill Builts." Thus, when the new owner commenced truck production in 1939, the employees called the trucks "Peterbilt." Now you know why the name.

    1. I'll be! I never knew about the origin of Peterbilts! Thanks! Fageol might have realized his company was tanking, but he didn't end up poor, he went boat racing http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2022/05/what-has-24-cylinders-and-goes-180.html in 1948, AND made the Fageol Supersonic in 39 http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2014/04/fageol-supersonic-1939.html and in the early 50s was racing Porsches http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2016/03/lou-fageols-twin-engine-porsches.html
