I finally got all three of Scott C's "Showdown" series books, and they are SO GOOD! Here's the examples with wheels...

Every painting is a "showdown" in a Hollywood tv show or movie.

 

even some obscure ones, like Nicole Kidman's first movie, the BMX one

and some really famous classic ones! 

But there's one problem, when you don't recognize one, there's no answer key in the book to tell you what movie it is. Like the above, I don't know this one.

I saw one at Comic Con from Scott, at his booth... but it's simply cheaper to buy books used on Amazon, and save about half the price of new.

very damn interesting graphic novel about a USMC vet of the Iraq war, coping with PTSD, working at a junkyard.. .. with really good artwork throughout, and a cool story

 The story is about Sam, an Iraq War veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder. She works alone in a junkyard and talks to her imaginary friend Mike, who is a gorilla. When she learns the junkyard's owner might sell it, she begins to see friendly aliens visiting the junkyard. When the prospective buyer threatens the aliens, Sam resists him.

I just learned of (and just met at Comic Con) the artist and Renaissance man who once worked at Petersen publishing on CAR-toons in the early 70s, and just recently made a full collection of his CAR-toons work

What a great explanation for the Sphinx! 

I bought my copy for 35 bucks I think it was... and wow, it's like a 70s time machine! 

I recommend it for the Hogg In Oz spoof, and the History of the Car, parts 1, 2 and 3. The cartoon spoof on spaghetti westerns is pretty cool too.
