getting the band on the road in a van, the quintessential road trip tour, is the theme of a new documentary by Dave Grohl

a new documentary is on the way for next Friday that looks back at the early days of some of music's biggest stars: Ringo, Flea, Slash, Steven Tyler, Metallica, No Doubt, and the Foos.

"This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music," Grohl said in a statement. "What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of 'why?' 'What drives us?'"

What Drives Us is set for release April 30 via the Coda Collection, a music-centric streaming service, via Amazon Prime Video Channels.

Anthony Quinn, 1/4 Irish, 3/4 Mexican

Quinn had appeared in more movies with other Oscar-winning actors than any other Oscar-winning actor - a total of 46 Oscar-winning co-stars (28 male, 18 female).

Before he launched his acting career, Quinn worked odd jobs as a butcher, a boxer, street corner preacher and a slaughterhouse worker.

He also won a scholarship to study architecture with Frank Lloyd Wright, with whom he developed a close relationship.

Thanks Steve!

Honda confirms 19th U.S. death due to the recalled Takata airbags... Honda had made more than 100 attempts to reach the car's owners, but the repair was never done

The vehicle involved in the fatal crash had been under recall since April 2011.

Honda said it made more than 100 attempts to reach owners of this vehicle including mailed notices, phone calls, emails and in-person canvassing visits

a recent true account of car insurance vs hospital bills... in case you're convinced that you've got enough insurance to cover a crash and the injuries it causes

example of a paragraph from the article:

Geico generally pays rates set by the state — which are dramatically lower than what was charged. But Gottlieb’s bill included billing codes not on the state schedule. For most, the insurer paid exactly what was charged, for example allowing the full price of $39,195 the hospital charged for nine surgical screws.

the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse in 1940 exposed a New York insurance agent who'd been embezzling

the Brooklyn newspaper "Daily Eagle" reported about Hallett R. French, the 45-year old Seattle-based insurance agent for Merchants' Fire Assurance Company of New York, who had written an $800,000 policy on the Tacoma Narrows bridge

He was vacationing in Idaho when he got word on November 8 that the bridge collapsed

French believed there was no chance of the bridge collapsing. So, being a rather inept criminal, French deposited the $8,000 in premiums in his bank account without reporting the transaction to his firm.

The insurance company wasn't even aware that they were on the hook for the payout of the policy.

He was convicted of grand larceny, because he had embezzled 70,000 in premiums, 8000 just on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge policy

Ford cheated on smog testing with a car that ran clean when the hood was lifted

Cackette remembers one Ford that had a subtle switch triggered by opening the hood. The emissions controls worked when the hood was up, as it would be during a smog test, and not when it wasn’t.

a comment about the X 15 from Craig

My very 1st memory in life was busting my dad getting my X-15 ready to give to me the next day for my 5th birthday present.

He had just saw me take a neighbor's Radio Flyer wagon down a steep hill on the street we lived on and thought it would be a great idea to give me my X-15.

And to think they came with a seatbelt to strap you in to that heavy piece of steel which somehow mysteriously disappeared after the 1st day. I'm lucky to have lived to tell the tale!! Still, it was a little slice of heaven in my 5 yr old world back then in the 60's. It was also the precursor to my whole life as a daredevil and a painfully handicapped one at that with motorcycles, skateboards and whatever else I could get my hands on to maim myself with but what can I say...it's been one heck of a ride!

Thanks so much for the memories.

Sincerely, Crazy Craig Oh yeah - VROOOOOOOM !!!
