Dieselpunk is a cool looking way to get airplanes, zeppelins, dirigibles, heroes, and pirates all together in a cool story or piece of art. Comic Con is the place to find it!

In a kingdom where airship travel has become the dominant means of transportation, commerce, and war, a raider strikes a surprise attack on a trade outpost, prompting the Royal Guard to bring him to justice by assembling a crew good enough to track down the pirate
Writers Vincenzo Ferriero and Ray Chou bring us a world where gas-guzzling airships fill the skies of the fictional Aquilan Empire and the sky battles bring with it a mix of war-time adventure and vengeful thriller following the latest attack aimed firmly at the Empire itself.
Airships are the vehicles of choice of the Aquilan Empire, which uses its vast fleet to maintain dominance over a number of neighboring countries. But airborne pirates are a constant thorn in the empire's side, and after one notorious raider goes on the offensive, the Zephyr and her intrepid crew is tapped to take him down. To do so, they must travel into The Expanse, an eternal storm at the center of the Aquilan Empire that has become a hotbed of lawlessness and violence.

I was really surprised to come across Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Rat Fink model kits at Comic Con! The booth also had a big selection of Weird Ohs, and a Mouse model kit too!
I'm double checking that I got the company name right, and will post more on this tomorrow
The Mayans MC exhibit next to the San Diego Convention Center Hilton
at the Hall H panel for Mayans MC, on Sunday afternoon, we were shown the 1st 15 minutes of the 1st episode... damn, it's good.
Ok, imagine a cocaine processing plant, in the back of a dress making warehouse... and the drugs get hung up inside the dresses, so the whole rack of dresses looks normal and gets pushed into the back of a delivery van.
The van heads off from the base of the outlaw motorcycle gang's city, a ficitonal place on the border of California and Mexico, and it heads east on a small highway, and then the other bad guys, some gang with a couple trucks, pushes the van off the road after cleverly paintball gunning the windshield with green paint
The driver of the van can't see where he's driving, and off the road, upside down, and bingo, the bad guys break in and grab the dresses and cocaine.
And there you go, the beginning of the series.

Bumblebee, the new Transformer movie is a throwback to the original 80s Transformers, and even celebrated Stan Bush, and his theme song "You've Got The Touch" in the Hall H panel!

After five Michael Bay Transformers movies, the franchise is trying to go back to basics. Bumblebee is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Coraline)
Bumblebee is set in 1987, and starts with a pursuit in the woods. Bumblebee is in trouble, and looks like he's a Jeep in his vehicle mode. He slices through trees in his way while military vehicles follow with machine guns blazing.
But then a jet flies overhead, a Decepticon. “Did you think you could hide?” the mechanical creature asks as he attacks. A huge fight up the side of a mountain happens between the two, but Bumblebee is totally dominated, and falls down the mountain side. The Autobot’s POV read-out says “critical failure” and just before he shuts down, he scans a Volkswagen Beetle that he spotted in the distance.
Hailee Steinfeld stars as Charlie, a typical misunderstood gearhead teenager who hopes the battered old Volkswagen Beetle she finds rusting in a junkyard can help her find a new life, away from the somewhat lonely, outcast existence she currently leads. Taking him home she realizes he’s a giant robot
Steinfeld told the crowd. “She’s constantly trying to find that freedom that she craves and fill that gap of loss with love or friendship or something or someone that understands her or sees her.”
Her friend Memo, played by Jorge Lendeborg Jr., is a shy neighbor who unexpectedly finds himself along for the ride. He goes through a coming-of-age story, too: “When you gotta fight aliens, you definitely turn from a boy into a man.”
The Decepticons appearing in this movie (3 that I know of) are far fewer in number than the Bay era Transformers movies, but, cooler... 2 Decepticons (voiced by Angela Bassett and Justin Theroux) have 3 shapes total, two other than the robot form, a car and an aircraft.
Dropkick is a Harrier jump jet and blue 71 Javelin , and Shatter is a helicopter and a red 72 or 73 Satellite. Well, space - satellite, so, though it's not the coolest Mopar, the name makes sense in context of the whole outer space robot origin. It would have been a hoot to have a 71 Charger Super Bee as the bad guy, fighting with Bumblebee, especially if they'd made him a 71 Super Beetle instead of a standard Beetle
There's no previous Decepticon in Transformers canon with the name Shatter, nor has there ever been a Shatter toy - which is kind of amazing considering how many Transformers toys there've been over the years. The main thing we know about Shatter is that she's a female Decepticon, and would presumably be the first major female Transformer in the live action films
Shatter can turn into a harrier jet and Dropkick can turn into a chopper, and you can see little pieces of that in the design. Shatter and Dropkick’s design was partly inspired by elements of the ’80s cartoon.
“For Shatter, I was inspired by the design of this robot ninja character called Nightbird in the original animated series. She was awesome,” he said. “And with Dropkick, that helmet was inspired by Megatron’s design.”
These villains convince John Cena’s Agent Burns and the robot-hunting military unit of Sector 7 that they are merely on Earth hunting a “dangerous criminal” from their world. So deception truly is one of their weapons.
At the end of the panel, there was the usual audience Q and A — but the last question came from Peter Cullen, who has voiced the heroic Autobot leader in all Tranformers iterations over the years, beginning with the original cartoon series.
“I could not help but notice my absence in much of your footage.”
“Well… The movie’s called Bumblebee. It’s about Bumblebee. So it’s really his moment in the sun.” Knight replied
“Well, in that case, what does an Autobot have to do to get his own movie?” Cullen asked, followed by a roar of approval from the audience.

Bumblebee opens on December 21 in the U.S., and December 26 in the UK and Australia.

but this will thrill and delight everyone that wants to buy some of the coolest toys for this christmas that are WAY COOL retro!
