Who is Tony Buzbee? (the tank owner)
He grew up poor in Atlanta, Texas, one of four children of a butcher and high school cafeteria worker. "I've done that beyond any of my expectations."
Buzbee mowed yards and worked at other jobs to make payments on his first car, a used 1974 Jeep CJ5.
He attended Texas A and M University on an ROTC scholarship, graduating in 1990.
After college, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps. As an infantry officer, he served in the Persian Gulf and Somalian conflicts, where he commanded various units.
He later was selected by the Marines to become a special forces officer, commanding an elite recon company in the fabled First Marine Regiment.
After Marine Corps service, he entered law school at the University of Houston. One of his first big wins came in 2001. Buzbee represented offshore drilling workers who alleged their wages had been suppressed by their employers. He won a $75 million judgment against Transocean Ltd.
He was notable last year for hosting Trump for a fundraiser -- www.chron.com/local/explainer/article/who-is-tony-buzbee-8237804.php
And he's earned a high profile in recent years, first defending former Governor Rick Perry on felony charges, then helping with Perry's presidential campaign ( Perry also appointed Buzbee to the Texas A and M Board of Regents in 2013), and had a landmark victory in 2009, when he won $100 million for Texas City residents affected by toxic discharge from the local BP plant. It was heralded as the largest verdict ever against the oil giant.
that mansion in the background of each video? It set a record for single-family home sales when Buzbee bought it in 2013 for $14 million.
Before you get irritated about a multimillionaire wasting $600,000 on a tank, get acquainted with his overly generous philanthropy: he has given millions to charity, education, and a couple churches, and social services organization The Jesse Tree, to who he gave away his $3.5 million 13 car collection (including a Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR, Spyker C-8, and Ford GT), plus the Star of Hope Mission for the Homeless, Meals on Wheels, and the Friendswood Methodist Church.
hat tip to Jalopnik, who I may only source a story from every other year, as I know, no one wants to go from site to site and see the same coverage of stories in the vehicle world. And I feel it's very lame to copy what the competition is posting. But on the rare occasion that something this incredible pops up EVERYWHERE, I can't resist
But a combat vet WW2 tank that pisses off an HOA while doing nothing illegal? I can't pass that up. It's proof that HOA members are tank nazis. Yeah, I couldn't resist.

I'd love to drive a street legal tank around town (ok, a Kettenkrad will do), and park it in front of where I live. All the luck to him, if he needs luck at all - he's a lawyer fer chrissakes....
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda funny though, that on one hand he supports Trump, yet takes on the big businesses who screw their employees or poison people. Go figure.
