"How To Build It" magazine from 1934 article on building a racing speedster. Used a lot of 23-25 Dodge parts, and I bet, back in the 40s, there were junkyards full of great parts for building speedsters!

  1. Wonderful magazine to see! Youngsters did productive things with their hands. My mother, who was born in 1914, was a member of a model airplane club in Revera, Massachusetts. She built several airplane models.

  2. Ray F Kuns wrote a bunch of automotive stuff back then, and was really involved with small track racing. I gave a couple of magazine-format volumes of "Automobile Racing" to one of my kids a few years ago filled with plans and details for making various dirt track racers out of old Fords. It included some wonderful detailed drawings of the mechanical details of the Model B and other Fords, including the changes made between the A and B engines (the B had a counterweighted crankshaft, for instance) . I don't know whether Kuns himself did the artwork, but the illustrations in some of these things are terrific. He did a lot of stuff that was used by the military during WWII, and later published for the civilian market. Not too rare, but great stuff if you're into older Automotive stuff, and masterful illustration.
