More often than not I think that Pininfarina can improve designs. In this case though I have to say that GM did a better job with the Corvair. I do like what Pininfarina did with the rear of the car. The rear is somewhat reminiscent of the Series I Alfa Romeo Spider rear.
There were a few different iterations of the Pinin Farina Corvair, with some additional work done by Tom Tjaarda. It started out with the curved A pillar of the original Corvair and a front end similar to a Porsche 911, then the greenhouse and front end were modified to look like the picture here. The first roofline has a C pillar that looks like the BMW Hoffmeister Kink. The final greenhouse and rear end are similar to the 1965 and newer production Corvairs.
