The 60s were weird. The carrozzeria was Pichon-Parat from the city of Sens in France

Raymond Loewy enjoyed this Jaguar when he lived in France and Monaco. After some time, he sold this E-Type to a resident of France. In the early 70s the car was put up for sale, where it was purchased by architect and designer James Murray Hunt (at one time he worked under the guidance of Lowy) and transported to San Diego, where it was stored for 40 years. In 2011, the Hunt family sold it for $ 128,000.
Loewy's designs of tractors and trains was beautiful, but I don't like what he did with cars... take his personal Cadillac for example, or his Lincoln

Loewy did some wonderful work, this isn't one of them. He turned the most beautiful car in history into 'its not terrible.' Not sure what he had against Jags, his treatment of an XK140 was even more of a bizarre glorious mess than this.
ReplyDeleteDo you recall his Lincoln? https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/12/designer-raymond-loewys-personal-1941.html
