I just learned of a newly published 398-page coffee-table book by photographer John Slemp, about WW2 airplane pilot jacket art, the hard way. For many of the jackets, the airman’s combat history is highlighted, and stories long forgotten are shared.

The book has about 100 jackets, and it's about a 60/40 split between museum pieces, such as the Smithsonian, the National Museum of the Air Force, and the 390th Memorial Museum, and the privately owned family heirlooms the author photographer was able to access.

The easy way would have been if (as a nose art website, WW2 bomber content heavy blog, and press pass email lists I'm on) the published had let me know directly.

The books are $130 apiece

all the photos of the jackets are free to look through at https://wwiibomberboys.com/store
