Stanley Black & Decker has reworked their Hand and Power Tool Brand Positioning chart for the first time since at least 2017 as a rough guide as to how the various tool brands are positioned relative to each other.

  1. This is a great example of the Dunning Kruger effect. I'm as DIY as it gets and I cant seem to find that pretty okay Porter Cable, Craftsman or Stanley stuff they are talking about. You can still find some pretty good Dewalt tools if you are careful and know what you're looking to avoid but it's getting more difficult. I'll admit, the Irwin tools have been worth having and worth the money.
    It would be nice if everyone would just stop making all of the bottom end garbage that ends up in the trash within a couple of months. I get that sometimes you just need something cheep to get a project done but that grade of tool shouldn't occupy the majority of the shelf space.
