  1. We went there a few years ago. They also have a captured U boat there. It's a great museum.

    1. I was there about 46 years ago, it's the U505, I went in it... it was a foreshadowing of my time in the Navy, crewing on two subs, the 717 and 759. The rest of the museum foreshadowed my fascination with history and collecting of antiques, and getting very personal with museums - hell, somedays all I do is look through museums and share what I find

  2. The building housing this fine museum was originally built for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, known then as Palace of Fine Arts. There were numerous other buildings constructed nearby for the affair, all in the same architectural style. Collectively they were called The White City, and the museum today represents the only building surviving the fair. Pabst Blue Ribbon claims its origin dates back to the fair, where it’s product won a blue ribbon.

    1. I had no idea! Wow! I didn't find that about the museum building or beer in my time looking at the expo, but I did find a lot about Cretors, Wild Bill, and the Ferris Wheel. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=1893+exposition
