The origins of this car are the 1969 Gran Fury I two-door sedan. It was designed to be the business coupe of the model line. It did not sell well and was a rather plain looking vehicle with little adornment. In 1970, I guess, Chrysler had all these bodies to unload, so they created the upscale Gran Fury Coupe. It was a winner with the elderly.
