Auto repair shops enter your plate number and it gives the parts stores the VIN. so they get the right make model, year, engine etc, to get the correct parts. It does not give names, addresses, etc.
ReplyDeleteI can remember, early 1990's, I was writing computer software that allowed insurance companies and their agents to extract the names and addresses of drivers from the North Carolina DOT databases. The records were supplied to us on floppy disks, direct from the DOT mainframes. The data was used to market "high risk" (aka DUI) auto insurance policies.
