I love a start up video, mostly for the sounds
and they are even better when someone will take a moment and edit the video so you can skip the minutes of nothing happening - you're welcome

Thanks Steve!
That's the #1, hands down, wildest exhaust system I've ever seen on anything.
ReplyDeletethanks Bruce it took a while for me to make ,and polish , but it was worth it.
DeleteRunning two engines linked together but with separate ignitions is going to be a challenge, the flames coming from the exhaust show how these motors are wrestling with each other because spark advance isn't shared.
ReplyDeleteHello , not english ,scottish ! :) thank you for the add, steve, i have a video of its first outing to a local car show ....

which was a hoot .
regards
robert.
Thanks! I will try to find an amusing Scottish phrase, but the Mad Dogs And Englishmen was my reference, and not easy to find anything as instantly regonizeable for the Scottish.
DeleteCompliments on the build!
haha yes i can see that's a problem , i do live in england , so british would be ok ;)
ReplyDeleteoh you! You're living in England... than I was right! You're goofing me up!
DeleteI'm not changing it back though.
Deletehahaha by the way ,great site .
ReplyDeletethanks! I gotta say, I never thought you'd have the time to look around through it! That thing you're doing to make an idea become a fully fun car to drive would leave me no time for anything else. Heck, I find it hard enough to to make time to do this site, plus my full time job, and have enough time left over to install an 8 track in my 69 Dodge!
DeleteClan McLean myself. Grandmother on my father's side and her parents left Scotland in the 1920s. What a wonderful grandma she was too!
It does leave no time Jesse ! doing it on a budget of around 1000 pounds ,and having CFS does not help , but hey who doesn't like a challenge ,its pretty much all built from scrapyard stuff.. i made the bellmouths from a old scrap flagpole .she went on her second outing last weekend to the bicester scramble ,it was fun seeing peoples faces .
ReplyDeleteyou might like this second outing Jesse ...
ReplyDeleteBicester scramble video :)

wow, that - was a really big car gathering! Also, I laughed at the horn Peep Peep, and your comment "not my horn" Honk honk "that's my horn, classy!" HA! Love it!
Deletecompliments on the better gas mileage! Doubled is a wonderful thing!
Deleteyup i will even happier if i can double it again :)
ReplyDeleteYou know how... but are you motivated enough to lighten the load? There's got to be 20 easy ways to lighten the car, lessen rolling resistance, belly pan it, swiss cheese some parts, lightest possible tires, aero windscreen by giving it more rake, try the radiator flaps that close at speed, and open when slow, etc etc etc... I'd love to hear if you try all those and see what benefit you get with mileage! Super tune the engines, spark advance kits, dyno tune the carbs, gear it for best mileage and add overdrive.. then get hardcore and do all the Smokey Yunick edging and smoothing of all cross members, speed tape... I've got lots more somewhere if you really want to get crazy! Increase tire pressure a bit for example... Hyper mileage contest tricks, like the ball bearing clinometer, vacuum guage indicators, etc
ReplyDeleteblimey Jesse hold on, hold on , i am only one man lol. So far i have replaced all 48 valve guide seals , so it has a chance of firing on all 12 , skimmed heads..raised the compression ration from 9.8 to 11.6 and 11.25 :1 , made new spiral ht leads , advanced timing and corrected incorrect cam timing someone had done before me on the 3.6 ...oh also fitted a 11 gallon tank instead of 9 ...um ...its a bit skittish on 30 psi tyres so i have them at 20 and 25 , a lot better , but not so good for mpg ..frontal area of the car is tiny , and the thing is pretty slippery in the body , just the huge wheels that stick out .weight wise i reckon the car is around 2100 lbs , so not heavy really.i know its still much too rich on power on the engine no2 ,so i can change that .oh , and i have been driving everywhere at 50 to 70 mph ,and all little country roads .
ReplyDeleteit's a work in progress as they say .:)
regards
robert
HA! Well, my compliments! You seem to have been working a LOT on improving the mpg... all the valve guide seals? Yikes! I see a LOT of head work, and that's brilliant! bad cam timing? THAT was the trouble with the initial starting... I was quite certain, as you seriously needed a bunch of starter spinning to get some life out of it at first. It could have been distributor timing advance, or cam. I figured you would have had distributors dialed in, spot on, and that it was going to be a timing chain, cam gear, or some flat spots on the lobes.
DeleteFitted 11 gal, HA! That's what results from learning that you've got 3 mpg I expect! Lol...
Anyway, you're being cheered on through computer screens around the world! I hope to see you at SEMA!
I say... haven't you got some blogging to do? 5 years and 4 months since http://northmoorpowerdrive7.blogspot.com/ has had a new post!
Deleteoh good grief! 9 years on http://northmoorpowerdrive.blogspot.com/
Deleteon the other hand, you've made a car instead of wasting time online!
DeleteCRIKEY ! , i had forgotten those blogs , one was for my rolling road software development , and the other to do with the installation of power to 4 houses cut off by a private supplier ..phew ,,long time ago .

i decided to stick the straight 12 on the dyno :)

robert
Wow, that's a HUGE improvement, it must feel so much better on the road now! I didn't know you were running propane... why that instead of gasoline?
Deletewell it does feel better until you floor it and the clutch gives up in smoke lol. i really spend most of my time in 5th gear , and bumble along .i used lpg because i am very poor and its 65 pence a litre instead of 1.25 a litre like petrol :)
Deletefinally got it running and tuned on the injection lpg ..
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM
I can't begin to guess where you found the patience to carry on... I am sure I wouldn't have continued a long time ago. But it's super impressive to see the comparison on the dyno charts! Enormous improvement!
DeleteWhat's your impression of how it drives on the road now?
it did get a little frustrating Jesse..
ReplyDeleteon the rd the throttle is basically a volume control ,more throttle in lower gears it hurtles forwards then spins the tyres like mad ,effortlessly .
it has over 300 lbsft from 1400 rpm to 5600 rpm ,and over 400 lbs ft from 2400 to 4800 ,so since its less than a ton in weight , its hilarious good fun ...also you can put it in 5th 31mph/1000 rpm ,and never change gear until you come to a halt . :) regards
robert
bit of winter fun ..

ReplyDeleteoh no... moving is one of the most stressful things in life, and dang... with a garage too? Oh I hope your move is trouble free!
Deletethank you Jesse .time will tell ! ;)
