Gods... such level of destruction. I can hardly even imagine the scale of those firestorms. And first responders, firefighters, medics, ect. going in to that storm, they bravest of the brave. They have my eternal respect.
ReplyDeleteAnd they should NOT need any donations, they should not be in position that they need any donation, ever.
they are at the mercy of politicians running the budget, that first gives raises to the politicians. The last people on the govt payroll to get what they deserve are the many people that most deserve more pay, the first responders to emergencies... fire fighters, then the teachers, and they are all the worst paid versus the importance of their accomplishments. Police figured a way around poor pay, they keep the numbers of police low, requiring them to get more overtime. Big city police (I'm most familiar with San Diego, the 7th largest city in the USA, and Los Angeles, the 3rd largest city in the USA) typically get paid around 50k, but take home around 120k, all from over time.
DeleteSo, when it comes to should, could, and would, then logic does not enter the discussion.... these are all opinions, and not a high priority to the mayors and city managers, and city budget planners.
San Diego for example, has been so corrupt for so long, that the politicians came up with a way to get richer, by creating a retirement pension system that has to be funded in the future, for the work of the past, and the mayor and councilmembers worked up a sweet system where they could "retire" from public service and get into the retirement plan for the people that work 30 or more years... when they are only elected for 2 or 4 years... buy buying into the plan... say, buying 10 years or 20 years of time served, to reap a pension for 40 or 50 years after they quit working for the local govt and go back to their CEO jobs, laywer jobs, and banking jobs... so they are getting a wealthy 6 figure pension annually, plus whatever normal income they earn.
It's bankrupted the city for the past 20 years, and the future 40 years.
Firefighters have to work 20 or 30 years of a dangerous job to earn the pension the rich corrupt politicians bought into. Not the same 6 figure payout though, firefighters get a 50% of their active pay, in retirement.
The politicians are some crooked bastards
wonder how the money thats been spent on the train to nowhere
ReplyDeleteor the money thats spent on illegal immigrants would have helped prevent and stop this ??
If I were the person making the budget, and allocating the funds, I'd hire more fire fighting planes, helicopters, and crews to fly them, and put the fires out faster, with a quicker response time, and I wouldn't spend money on illegal aliens... I'd dig a moat on our side of the border fence from the Pacific to the gulf of Mexico and buy some salt water crocs from Australia, and some sea snakes too, and then let the border patrol use carnival canons to shoot back any illegals caught in America back to Mexico. It's up to Mexico to make a big circus net to catch them.
