Jesse, picture 15 and 69, which are the same, are of a rail line company called the Erie Lackawanna which operated out of PA. I believe. The engine, which is hauling freight, reminds me of the same engine named the "Phoebe Snow". A passenger train that I road on as a young boy.
Yes! I was looking through a gallery of photos that lasted a couple days that was just the Erie Lackawanna, and nearby trains and train depots. I'll be darned, small world! I'd be pretty happy to see some childhood memory pop up online.
Said it before, I'll say it again, you have the best banners. Don't know how you do it, but they make the regular check on what's new worth the trip every time.
Thanks! You can save any or all to your computer and use them too! I just keep up my desire for a new, better banner. Sort of like looking at women, you don't do it to see if they aren't good looking, you do it to see if they are better looking than the others around. I call that the "best looking girl in the room syndrome" and with photos I look at them all to see if they are possibly banner shaped, long and short, with a space in the upper left corner, or right corner as long as there are no words or numbers that will show up backwards when I flip the image left to right. It's constant, I do it to all photos. I also look at all tires to see which ones are flat, or low. I see at least one underinflated tire a day.
Why? Habits. I was an MP, and I checked the tires as people drove up to the gate, or were driving by on the road. I also looked at all the registration stickers on the license plates, and windshields for cracks. Then I looked to see if they had seat belts.
This all may be a result of growing up in the forests on the Canadian border, and it was a challenge and competition to be the first one to notice wildlife when you walked or drove about. When I was a kid, if it moved, it was probably food waiting for a dead aim and a bullet. I am also a expert marksman with pistol and rifle, according to Navy shooting range qualifications. According to some shipmates on my first sub, I'm a hero, as I'd get my score, then throw bullets into the target of the guys we'd place next to the best shooters, so their scores would get bumped up to acceptable for qualifying... and then we'd have more guys standing watch, and less time standing the damn watch ourselves. Peat and repeat (on and off and on again standing watch every 4 or 6 hours is a real shitty way to spend duty days, it's even worse in extreme heat, or cold, or rain).
Ummm, summed up, I keep my eyes open. As the most interesting man in the world used to say, "Stay hungry my friends"

How often do you check on the blog?
DeleteHa. Well when I don't miss a week, for me it's two or three times a day, and I concur with Allen 100%. ;)
DeleteI check a couple times a day, morning when I'm going through my mail and then in the evening when I'm winding down from the day.
