I was just setting up a radio and heard the looped commercials they run on the deactivated Sirius XM channel 184 sample music channel.
It happens that if you call up or go to their website, and mention 4.99 a month, you can sign up a deactivated radio, aka a returning customer, for 6 or 12 months at 5 bucks a month.
That's pretty good. Normal price is $209 for the unknowing victim/customer who doesn't wait for a deal/sale/desperate move on the part of Sirius XM to come along.
It's their typical way to get people to come back... . http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Sirius%20XM and has been for a while
BUT BEWARE THE AUTOMATIC RENEWAL! That little trick will cost you $218 dollars.
See that $18.21 a month renewal cost? That's 218.52 a year if you don't cancel. You can ONLY cancel if you call 1-866-635-2349
So, pay with a check through the mail if you can. If not, mark your calendar, put a note in your next years christmas decorations, etc, what ever you'll see 11 months from now, so you can call them up and cancel before they pull that little nasty money grab trick
Just my 2 cents. Why not let people know what's going on and how to save 60% on anything you happen to know about? It's just being a good neighbor

Also, don't jump on the 1st deal you see... they are not out to make you happy, they are out to get your money
See this comparison of the same website, different pages:
Notice above the 12 months are for 60 dollars.
But below? 100 dollars.
What do you make of that?

Yes, beware the auto renew. Do what I do, write the renewal date on the calendar... A day or two before it's set to auto renew, call them and cancel. I guarantee they will offer to extend your reduced rate for another 5 months. I learned this after paying full price for nearly 10 years.
ReplyDeleteThey were also willing to put one of my radios on a temporary suspension until spring. I told them it's winter and the convertible is in the garage until April or May..
It's a decent service, but if all you want is music, then I can that for free on my phone.
ReplyDeleteI imagine iHeart has cut into their profits quite a bit. But yeah, cut a deal if you can. I was surprised to get HULU for $5.99 a month, which is an introductory offer, even though I'm registered with HULU, stopped it for a while because I didn't need it.
ReplyDeleteI have had them in three cars since 2010 and have never paid more than $5 for a five-month run.
ReplyDeleteBut come renewal, it is/was a struggle with them saying that "promotion rate" is no longer offered. I say I am a retired gentleman who has to watch my pennies, blah blah. Lots of typing and clicking, while they try to sell me the $149 plan. (I've never seen it at $200+).
Suddenly, there it is.
This time I got tired of all the theatre and settled for a no argument no hard sell $6 a month for a year.
The service is very good. Comes through my beautiful stereo in the car as though I was in a concert hall.
They have only one classical station. Suggestions for more go unnoticed.
