Everybody happy now? The shop owner is brilliant, give them what they want, prove they were idiots to bitch about the human condition without offering a better solution, and demonstrate the equal rights isn't just a phrase. I feel sorry for all the beautiful women put out of work by cranky activists... beautiful women can only suffer by the activism of others who condemn the natural method of sexing up advertising. Above, you see the opposite, and I think it's incontrovertible... women in advertising sells, men in advertising is ridiculous, but prove a point

but there are a lot more photos of the same comparison/contrast http://www.motocorsa.com/
Thank you Arun Sharma, general manager of the Ducati dealership in Oregon
you can even buy the calendar!

And, best part, all the free advertising of this controversy will only help out the shop that had to put up with the griping. So HA!
They even have 2 years of free maintenance when you purchase a bike there.. applies to IN STOCK models, until Nov 30th 2013 http://www.motocorsa.com/post/two-years-of-maintenance-on-a-new-ducati

Dear Just A Car Guy,
ReplyDelete"....this is why women model in advertising... but after getting flack from idiots, this Ducati shop manager showed the how stupid critics are, by giving them what they want... equal opportunity to look at men modeling the same Ducati, in the same pose...""
FIRST OF ALL - Women are not objects to be possessed and gazed at to conquer. Secondly, I am a woman rider myself and cannot imagine shifting gears either with my tongue or my high heels. I only see one idiot here, and that is your narrow viewpoint.
1st of all, you're choosing to be a critic anonymously. How brave of you. 2nd. If you have a complaint about women being objects that are possessed? How quaint of you to complain about that to me, a champion of women, a feminist, and a guy with a proven record of doing more to publicize the accomplished women in the field of motorsports than anything you've accomplished in your entire life.

Now, go ahead and complain about women being possessed and objectified to the men that do it. Muslims. Middle Easterners, Chinese, etc. Go ahead, I'll wait for you ti figure out that you're only complaining to someone because you have internet courage and comment with anonymity to someone who's stood up for women who own garages, work in garages, race cars, set records, own companies, run corporations, etc.
Like the activists that throw paint on rich old white women for wearing furs, and don't dare do a damn thing to bikers for wearing leathers, good choice you've made to attack a supporter of women instead of a slave owner, misogynist, or father that sells his daughter into slavery or into a harem
As for what you can imagine shifting gears with, what's that got to do with anything? No one asked you what you can imagine shifting with.
DeleteMy narrow viewpoint? Can't be narrow, contrary to your opinion, as I'm commenting on the calendar made by someone else that was done to prove a point.
If you've got a problem with that, take it up with them, which I doubt you have the courage to do, since you can't even comment under your own name.
You seem to have missed the concept going on there, and you certainly never made it clear if you agreed with the concept of having men model the bikes, or think women should continue. Seems to me the idea going on here was something you missed, probably due to my commentary, which you don't think I'm entitled to on my website.
So, women in modeling. What's your opinion on that? For it, against it? Only if they are ugly? Or are you against women looking sexy in bikini's? Or just against women looking sexy? Maybe you're against women looking sexy in advertising?
Well, then say which it is, as that at least allows people to stand with you or have the opposite opinion. It seems to me that declaring women can't be in advertising is being a tyrant and takes away the career these women have, removes their job and income to support themselves without relying on anyone else. Are you that upset with the ridiculousness of women in bikinis in advertising that you can't allow for their jobs? Seems a narrow viewpoint from you...
Or you're one of the crtics that harps about women in calendars for men, certainly the bike company, like so many other calendar advertising companies, has done nothing out of the ordinary and culturally acceptable norm in America, where pin up calendars have been around since the 30s. Vargas, Elvgren, Napa, Snap ON, etc http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/pin%20up have been doing calendars just like Harley, Ducati, and Pirelli.
You haven't been complaining to them, have you?
So anyway, you never said exactly what what you felt was objectionable, so, get on it. Speak up. Are you a reader of my blog? Or did you happen to just come here and get all pissed off about this one post without having a clue about the other 32500 posts? Are you bent out of shape about the men posing with the bikes, or just my pointing out why, and how it's to show the reason why men aren't modeling, and women are?
ReplyDeleteOr are you simply one who bitches about shit on a hit and run basis? 'Cause I'm here for the long haul, 11 and a half years so far, over a thousand topics, and about 16000 comments so far, and you're nothing more than one of many, but you're one that hasn't made clear what your problem is.
So I'm guessing you were only here to bitch about my post, and have nothing to say on the topic. How impressive.
Well, I'm here to comment on thousands of topics, and about 32500 posts, and usually, only because whatever it's about, is something I want to share with my readers.
And did you notice that this post is about 5 years old, and NO ONE has EVER commented on it before?
