James was an animator at Disney, and a prof of 2nd or 3rd year at Cal Arts (I'm piecing bits of info together here)
But here are some awesome things he's done I enjoyed immensely; Paperman, Flushed Away, and Lion King
I'm not the only one gushing over the project: http://hauntedmansion-northside.blogspot.com/p/steampunk-project.html
Jess, Mike, I made a mistake, were I placed my comment regarding these animations. I put it on the post below this one. I'd love to see Hullabaloo Steampunk by Lopez go to full production and come to the movie theaters. Not sure how much of this animation is computer generated and how much is drawn cell, but it looks great.
ReplyDeleteLooks all computer, but ask James... I'm probably wrong no matter what I guess... but I sure can find the good stuff! Love this hobby!
DeleteI saw a panel in which James Lopez spoke about it. He said the animation blend was a lot like the CG/2D animation blend used in Paperman.
DeleteDrawn cell, I just got the word that the Kickstarter is up! New video posting here tomorrow shows the method of making it... and yes, 2d, old school hand drawn
DeleteKickstart this sucker!
ReplyDeleteThat's up to James to do, it's his movie, his baby,.... I've got this blog to keep up!
DeleteThey have just lit the fuse, the Kickstarter is on!
Deleteomgshhh please let this be real!
ReplyDeleteTell James to stop teasing up and finish the movie! Here is his face book https://www.facebook.com/SteampunkAnimation
