1966 Shelby GT350, SFM 6S089 was converted to R spec, and later caught the attention of Stirling Moss in 1992, who bought it for vintage racing, starting with the Targa Tasmania

Moss purchased SFM6S089 in 1992 and first raced it at the Targa Tasmania with his wife Susie as co-driver, where they won their class, the Classic Division B7 for Touring and GT cars over 4000cc. He raced the Shelby in vintage competitions all across Europe, including at Silverstone in 1995 and 1996. In later interviews, he noted he was particularly fond of the car’s handling. Moss owned and raced the car until 1999.

It was at the 2007 Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance in Seabrook, Texas, that Stirling Moss, Carroll Shelby and their wives were guests of honor, and Shelby himself drove the car up on stage. Shelby announced that the car would hereafter be known as “The Moss car,” and Sir Stirling Moss made it official by signing his name inside the trunk.

Well, for the right price, Shelby would appear at any car auction and help boost the highest bid with some personal touch, story, etc. Most every celeb attending an auction to help raise the price is there to make some extra money, why not?

In 1963, the slot car natl championships was broadcast on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the prize was a '63 T-Bird roadster, given away by Stirling Moss to a 12 yr old

the Aurora Plastics Corporation of West Hempstead, N.Y., was a major player in table-top racing of kids slot cars, and kicked off the Ford-Aurora Grand National Model Motoring Championships.

Well, kids toys had suddenly become big business in America... mini bikes, skates, go carts, etc.

Anyway, kids from Rapid City Nebraska made the finals in three, winning two of the five Ford-Aurora Grand National Model Motoring Championships run from 1962 through 1966.

the '62 finals were on the Today Show, won by 15 yr old, the prize was a T-bird. Sterling Moss was the race's honorary Grand Marshall.

the '65 finals, taped in Philadelphia were broadcast on the Mike Douglas Show., and the prize was a Mustang, the winner was a 14-year old ninth-grader

In a 2010 episode of Antiques Roadshow, filming took place in Beverly Minister, Yorkshire.

The episode featured an old car, once used by a farmer to pull his pigs into the market; the vehicle turned out to belong to no other than Stirling Moss, legendary British race car driver.

 Stirling Moss used the Sunbeam Talbot 90 when he won the Charles Ferro Trophy in the Monte Carlo Rally of 1967. Stirling Moss’s Sunbean Talbot 90 went to auction for $50,000.

the 1970 BP Canadian Economy Run overall winner was a 71 Demon with a stick shift, and in the competition Sir Stirling Moss was driving a Corolla.

The results were determined by multiplying each competitor’s actual miles per gallon by the car’s weight in pounds divided by 2000.
