5 time Hall of Famer, the mastermind of Group 44, and at one time - an employee of Kodak who was given the ultimatum to quit the racing or quit the Kodak job... has passed away at 95 yrs old.
Founded in Falls Church, Virginia in 1965, Group 44 Inc. fostered relationships with manufacturers such as MG, Triumph, and Jaguar, leading to a quarter of a century of American road racing victories.
In 1981, Group 44 brought Jaguar back to Le Mans for the first time in 27 years. In 1985, they won the GTP class, defeating the dominant Porsches that seemed so unbeatable to the rest of the field.
Tullius was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame in 2014, the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2015, the British Sports Car Hall of Fame in 2017, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2018, and the IMSA Hall of Fame just last year.

Between SCCA, IMSA, and the Trans-Am series, Group 44 secured over 300 victories.
Tullius himself made starts in NASCAR and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, notching the final victory of his career in 1986 at the 3 Hours of Daytona.
Tullius was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame in 2014, the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2015, the British Sports Car Hall of Fame in 2017, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2018, and the IMSA Hall of Fame just last year.

Barnfind Jag... but what will it cost the next owner to make it safely roadworthy? The XK140 only has 15,570 miles on its odometer, was found in a barn in Virginia several years ago. Its 2nd owner last had it on the road in 1967.
The 3rd owner is a Jag restorer who obviously figured out it's now financially feasible to restore it, so he's looking to sell it for 50k to a potentially future customer to offload the expense, and hopefully onboard a new rich customer https://www.hemmings.com/stories/will-you-be-the-one-to-take-on-this-barn-find-1955-jaguar-xk140

The Whisky A Go Go, 1964. The first ever live music venue to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame (thank you Capt Doug!)
Apparently the morons in city hall had no understanding of the word Whisky/Whiskey is the same alcoholic beverage, but spelled with an E in the Irish and American version, and without the E in the Scottish version
the Go Go dancer was a term coined here, when they got the dancing going by the DJ between songs by the featured artist, Johnny Rivers, later they got dancers to dress in the similar costume of a typical "go go" dancer
Johnny Rivers is best known for a string of 1960s hits, including his #1 single "Poor Side of Town," the iconic theme "Secret Agent Man," and popular live covers of "Memphis," "Mountain of Love," and "The Midnight Special". Other notable hits include "Summer Rain," "Baby I Need Your Loving," and "Rockin' Pneumonia And the Boogie Woogie Flu"

there is not much of a story with this Jag
https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1372066284278465&set=pcb.1372066370945123
raced extensively in the Western United States, 1st owned by Jack Douglas, who redressed the exterior in his eye-catching livery of yellow with red and black pinstriping, took it to the Pebble Beach Road Races in 1956, but failed to compete after a wild pre-race spin-out.
Second owner Ray Scher raced it at Laguna Seca in 1958 and 1959 and sold it in 1960 to Tom Groskritz, who preserved the car for 61 years until 2021, when the current owner purchased it

Whoa... I've never heard this song before (radio stations never play anything but the 5 highest rated songs from any group, it seems) but the video is just as cool as the lyrics! Thank you Raymond G!
this is the Tarf made by Piero Taruffi before the tails were added
is what it looks like with good photography instead of very low early video recordings
and the Rolligon!
The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a-pumpin'
And the hubcaps all gleam
When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
It's like a disease son
I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal
Told my girl I have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks sayin' this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four-wheeled friends now
When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruisin' in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run-of-the-mill talk jive
I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
String-back gloves in my automolove!

How is it I've never heard of Denis Sire's art work until now?
Denis Sire was part of a new wave of French comic authors who innovated the medium in the 1970s with more experimental and artistic comics for adult-oriented magazines like Métal Hurlant and L'Écho des Savanes.
Sire in particular tackled genres like science fiction and erotic fetishism with a strong retro vibe. His comic pages and illustrations are filled with American automobiles, motorcycles, beautiful women, bondage and rock 'n' roll music in a 1950s atmosphere.
Later in life he became more famous for his pin-up drawings and his illustrations for automotive books and magazines.
Sire's only influences were Alex Raymond's classic space opera 'Flash Gordon' and American 1930s pulp novels, which resulted in his trademark retro approach.

vanity plates cause me to wonder what they mean... and this one? Is sorta odd
We know Jag models start with an X.
XKR in this case... but CP50?
I looked that up and very strangely, Google returned with "Jaguar guitar distortion pedal". How crazy is that?
The CP50 is still a mystery, but the similarity to a model number of a guitar distortion pedal is just uncanny... that a CP510 is Jaguar guitar pedal, and this Jag license plate is CP50, whatever the hell that is

56 Jag raced in period by Briggs Cunningham and Denise McLuggage is for sale
This car’s past is in fact so fascinating that it recently enabled it to earn a very coveted spot in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA), where it resided in 2022 alongside other giants of the racing world.

here's what the electric car looks like that Jaguar says is going to be the new line of cars after it converts to making electric vehicles only. If that even happens. Not many concept cars get put into production. These will cost double what the current Jaguar does
https://www.autoevolution.com/news/jaguar-type-00-is-the-name-of-the-design-vision-concept-they-copy-nothing-except-243656.html#
Picture the champagne corks popping as the socials are timed to post the video at the appointed hour. “I hope the pre-order guys are ready for an onslaught – because we’ve got eight capital-D diverse models in category-five tulle busting out of a pink-planet lift wielding a hammer – and precisely NO cars! Let’s make some sales history!”
As far as I can make out, the best this ad’s defenders can come up with is that “the internet is talking about it”
There is something ludicrous about a guy poised to roll out cars that are going to start at a hundred grand boasting about being mega-inclusive.
“More importantly, the campaign appears disconnected from the very traits Jaguar spent decades building. Gone are the understated elegance, performance nods, and any clear connection to British heritage…For a car company to launch a rebrand video without a single reference to its cars—its core product—is simply mind-boggling,”
“Unfortunately, it appears Jaguar went too far in its attempt to be bold. The rebrand has created a crisis because they have successfully denounced what the brand has become known for and respected. This challenge is hard for humans because its a ‘redefining’ moment where they have thrown out the preexisting ‘meaning’ assigned to the perception of the automaker and then told the same audience a new ‘meaning’ that lacks substance and appears to be progress for the sake of progress,” he noted.
Tata-owned JLR might have had record sales in the most recent financial year and sold over 400,000 cars. But almost all the profit came from the Land Rover side of the business. The Jaguar CEO Adrian Mardell reportedly told investors that the Jaguar models were generating “close to zero profitability”. Rather than wait to see the inevitable losses as Jaguar’s tired brand declines further, JLR has decided to shake things up and take the business firmly upmarket. Jaguar reportedly expects 85 per cent of future sales to be from customers completely new to the brand.
Amanda Stretton, a racing driver and motoring journalist, said that the size of the new car appeared to be "absolute nonsense".
"It needs to be shrunk by about 50% to be practical."
This reminds me, I meant to post some excerpts of the reaction articles that happened in the past 2 weeks:
But the one thing we can be absolutely sure of is: not a single one of those defenders will be buying a single one of these cars.

The Austin Power '67Jag is coming to auction
This is the “Shaguar” that was used in all three of the Austin Powers films, memorably driven by Mike Myers and featuring in several key scenes throughout the trilogy.
Though it's a 67... I think it goes without saying that they would have cracked a lot more jokes about it if it were a '69

Jaguar has unveiled its new brand identity, marking the beginning of its EV-only era. And it's likely the stupidest thing I've seen all year. They don't even show, or mention what the hell the poses are supposed to sell
So, if in the upcoming days you hear about investors abandoning Jag, the stock plummeting, and the whole damn company shutting down after a faceplant heard around the world, you'll know why
Thanks George!
This concept car will give a glimpse into a future luxury electric sedan slated for production in 2025, as part of the brand’s ambitious plan to redefine itself in the luxury electric vehicle market.
Managing Director Rawdon Glover referred to the rebranding as a “complete reset,” acknowledging the boldness required to transform the brand. To complement the unveiling of the new design language, Jaguar will host a series of gallery exhibitions in Miami, showcasing works from emerging artists who embody the brand’s ethos of originality and innovation.
Motor 1 laid out the whole thing in July https://uk.motor1.com/news/726893/jaguar-model-revolution-interview-ceo-glover/
Glover said, and I quote "We assume that 10-15% of our current Jaguar customers will follow us, so relatively few."
Bev Turner, a British television host on the conservative-leaning GB News channel, said the ad looked like Jaguar asked artificial intelligence to create the “wokest, most pretentious, gender-ambiguous piece of self-satisfied A-level art.”
